อย่างที่ได้บอกแล้วว่าระบบข่นส่งมวลชนในซานฟรานซิสโกค่อนข้างดีทีเดียว (ที่บอกว่าค่อนข้างเพราะบางครั้งใช้เวลารอรถเมล์บางสายนานเป็นชั่วโมง) คือมีทั้งรถเมล์ รถไฟราง รถเคเบิล รถใต้ดิน ซึ่งถ้าคนที่ต้องเดินทางโดยใช้รถสาธารณะเป็นประจำทุกวันจะประหยัดมากเพราะจะมีตั๋วเดือนขายราคา 45 เหรียญ โดยตั๋วใบเดียวสามารถใช้บริการขนส่งมวลชนได้ทุกประเภท ไม่จำกัดจำนวนครั้ง สามารถขึ้นรถเมล์แล้วมาต่อรถใต้ดิน หรืออื่นๆได้ตามชอบใจรถเมล์ที่นี่ราคา 1.5 เหรียญ ตลอดสาย และตั๋วมีอายุสองชั่วโมงหมายถึงหลังจากลงจากรถสามารถใช้ตั๋วใบเดิมขึ้นรถเมล์สายไหนอีกก็ได้ภายในเวลาสองชั่วโมงหลังจากออกตั๋ว พูดไปแล้วค่ารถเมล์ที่นี่ไม่แพงเลย (ถ้าคุณทำงานหาเงินได้ที่นี่) แถมบริการดีกว่าเยอะ มีเสียงและป้ายวิ่งบอกตลอดทางว่าตอนนี้ถึงป้ายไหนแล้ว และคนขับก็ขับรถสุภาพ ไม่น่ากลัวเหมือนบ้านเรา ที่ชอบมากคือการอำนวยความสะดวกแก่คนพิการที่ใช้วีลแชร์ เพราะรถจะมีระบบที่รองรับรถวีลแชร์ให้ขึ้นมาได้สะดวกและมีที่เฉพาะสำหรับวีลแชร์ ที่นี่ให้ความสำคัญกับคนพิการมากกว่าเมืองไทยเยอะ ที่จอดรถทุกแห่งจะมีกัยสหรับวีลแชร์ รวมทั้งห้องน้ำทุกที่ ฟุตบาท ทุกที่จะมีช่องสไลด์สำหรับวีลแชร์ส่วนรถไฟรางบนดินSan Francisco Municipal Railway ก็ราคาเท่ากันคือ
1.5 เหรียญ ตลอดสาย แต่รถเคเบิล Cable car ซึ่งถือเป็นไฮไลท์อย่างหนึ่งของที่นี่จะแพงหน่อยคือ 5.5 เหรียญ เพราะส่วนใหญ่คนใช้บริการคือนักท่องเที่ยว ส่วนรถไฟใต้ดิน Bart ก็แล้วแต่ระยะทาง แต่ถ้าคุณมีตั๋วเดือนสามารถใช้บริการรถที่ว่าได้ทุกประเภท มีเพื่อนคนนึงที่นี่ใช้เคเบิลคาร์ไปเรียนทุกวันคุ้มมากเลยเพราะใช้ตั๋วเดือนการใช้รถใช้ถนนที่นี่เป็นระเบียบ เวลาข้ามถนนก็ไม่น่ากลัวเหมือนบ้านเรา ไฟแดงเขาหยุดกันจริงๆบ้านเราบางทีขอตามน้ำ หรือเวลารถเลี้ยวเข้าออก ถ้ามีคนรอข้ามเขาจะหยุดให้คนข้ามให้หมดก่อนเสมอ ถ้าเป็นบ้านเรา เราต้องรอให้รถว่างค่อยข้าม แต่ที่นี่คนข้ามก่อนรถไปที่หลัง อือปลอดภัยดีและที่สำคัญไม่มีค่อยมีมอเตอร์ไซต์ มีบ้างแต่น้อยมาก ว่าไปแล้วข้ามถนนบ้านเราก็สนุกดีมีอะไรให้ลุ้นให้เสี่ยงได้ทุกวัน ถือเป็นการฝึกประสาทสัมผัส

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is governed by the SFMTA Board of Directors. It is composed of the San Francisco Municipal Railway and the Department of Parking and Traffic. Proposition E passed by the San Francisco voters in November 1999 amended the City Charter, calling for the creation of the SFMTA by consolidating Muni and DPT by July 1, 2002. The incorporation is intended to support the City’s Transit First Policy.
The SFMTA’s Muni is one of America’s oldest public transit agencies, the largest in the Bay Area and seventh largest system in the United States. It currently carries more than 200 million riders annually. Operating historic streetcars, modern light rail vehicles, diesel buses, alternative fuel vehicles, electric trolley coaches and the world famous cable cars, Muni’s fleet is among the most diverse in the world.

The SFMTA’s Parking and Traffic operation manages 40 City-owned garages and metered parking lots. It also manages all traffic engineering functions within San Francisco, including the placement of signs, signals, traffic striping, curb markings, and parking meters. It promotes the safe and efficient movement of people and goods throughout the City.
The mission of Parking and Traffic is to facilitate the safe and efficient use of City streets by motorists, public transit vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians, and to develop solutions to parking issues that affect the viability of residential and commercial neighborhoods.
